Penny Black Cottage is our Lavenham haven; a dream which we made a reality in 2021.
A former Butchers shop, we purchased and renovated this Grade II listed cottage in a modern style; with clean lines, muted tones and some bold design choices. We love art, and have chosen some beautiful modern pieces for the walls.
The accommodation comprises of large entrance lobby; perfect for muddy walking boots, hanging coats or storing a pram. There is a also handy WC tucked under the stairs.
Leading off the lobby is the kitchen; with dishwasher, integrated fridge and freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster and cooker (gas hob). Fully stocked with everything you would need to cook, and a large dining table which sits 6 people. We provide a highchair, plastic plates and cutlery for little visitors. A door leads out to the walled garden, newly renovated with large patio area, bench, picnic table and gravel.
The lounge also leads off the lobby, which is large and light with sash window providing views of the beautiful beamed houses opposite and French doors leading out to the garden. Comfortable sofas, wall mounted TV (already set up with ondemand and Netflix), books and games have you covered for cosy evenings in. In the absence of a chimney, (and strict grade II planning permissions!), a modern LED effect electric fire is perfect to snuggle around on chilly nights. There is a selection of baby/childrens toys and books to keep your little ones amused.
Upstairs there are 3 stylish bedrooms; two with double beds and the master with a king size bed. Hanging space, full length mirrors, clothes storage and a hairdryer are in each room. We provide a travel cot with mattress, bed guard and a video monitor for our little visitors, and all the blinds/curtains are black out.
We provide all bed linen and towels for your stay.
The bathroom has a large walk in shower, heated towel rail and beautiful marble topped vanity and a show stopping stainless steel Burlington toilet.
Dog Friendly
We welcome four legged friends (max 2), but please bring them a comfy bed as we don't allow them on the soft furnishings or human beds please.
Also, bring your own towels to wipe their paws rather than using ours.
Everywhere in Lavenham is dog friendly, so no need to leave them in the cottage unattended, thanks.
There are poo bags and dog bowls in the cupboard above the microwave.

Parking in Lavenham is on street, free and usually easily available right outside the cottage.
To help with packing:
We provide tea towels, sponges, jay - cloth and fairy liquid. Dishwasher tablets. Hand soap.
There is a cafetière, instant coffee, tea and sugar. Oil (sunflower, olive and fry lite). Salt, pepper and vinegar.
Mop and hoover in the storage cupboard.
Two spare umbrellas in the storage cupboard for emergencies!
Bring slippers or warm socks as the tiled floors downstairs are chilly in the colder months.
